Circus Antics was established in 1988 by Alice Newton. We are based in Bristol in the South West of England, but we work all over the UK and throughout the World. 

The company has developed from being a freelance small business into a bespoke circus entertainment agency providing a wide variety of excellent performers with incredible high quality circus acts to choose from. Our extensive experience working on both small and large scale events makes us very versatile. We are always happy to discuss your individual requirements, as we now have a fantastic pool of performers to draw upon to suit all your entertainment needs.

About Us

Alice Newton (Miss Firefly) MA and BA Hons

Creative Director, Circus Performer and Workshop Leader

Alice is the creative director and manager of the company and has worked professionally in the industry for over 25 years, as a professional circus performer, teacher and entertainment consultant. Alice has performed and taught circus acts throughout the UK and world. She is currently completing a MA in Arts Management, has gained a BA Hons in Theatre Practice and Contemporary Circus at The Circus Space in London as well as a HND in Physical Theatre in Brighton . She also trained on the Foundation in Circus Arts and Physical Theatre course at Circomedia, Bristol. Since 2014 she started collaborating with Merlin Bolton-Smith (Interstellar Circus Productions), to create colourful and mesmerising duo stilt walking and fire performance acts and cabaret shows at festivals and events with amazing performers from around the world.

Merlin hula-hoops like no other, plays with fire, walks on stilts and glides on skates. Her rich variety of entertaining character acts offer something for everyone and for every occasion. Ms Merlins’ shows are well presented and tightly choreographed, ranging from comic genius and cheekily sexy to awesomely skilled and breathtakingly beautiful. She also produces full cabaret shows (Interstella Circus Prodcutions) at festivals and events. She has been working with Alice Newton since 2014 and together they create colourful and mesmerising duo circus acts and cabaret shows with an array of amazing acts from around the world.
